Alice Sue Owens Alexander, age 81, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas after a short illness. She was born December 5, 1927, in Gordon, Texas to Lucian Cellars Owens and Mattie Blackburn Terry Owens. She graduated from Gordon High School in 1945. She graduated from Temple Junior College in 1981 where she was on the honor roll while undertaking studies in the medical field.
Sue married Dr. Bob Alexander on May 28, 1949 in Gordon, Texas. She is survived by Kay Hunt and husband Phil, Robin Harvey and husband Danny, Terry Alexander and wife, Debora, and Jodi Madden and husband, Mike.. She is also survived and loved by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her beloved ex-husband, Dr. Bob Alexander.
She is survived by one sister, Mary Marjorie Campbell, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Edward Owens, and her sister Ruby Jean Keown.
Everyone who knew Sue knew how much she loved and excelled at planning and carrying out family gatherings. She was affectionately named Mama Seuss by her family and friends. She was an avid list-maker, QVC shopper, and enjoyed visiting with her loved ones.
Funeral services for Alice Sue Alexander will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, August 23 at the First United Methodist Church in Eastland, Texas; arrangements by Edwards Funeral Home, Eastland, Texas. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation 6-8 P.M. Saturday, August 22 at Edwards Funeral Home.
