The 2nd Annual LaMancha BBQ Cook Off will be held the weekend of October 16 and 17 and has drawn a number of cooking teams from around the area.
The event will kickoff with a VIP dinner at 7 p.m. Friday night in the Depot at LaMancha lake Ranch. This dinner is a thank you for all of the sponsors of the event, but the public is invited with plates at $8 each.
Entries for the Cook Off will be accepted through Friday evening and anyone still wishing to enter may do so by contacting Tammy at LaMancha – 254-647-3651. Contest categories include beef brisket, chicken and pork spareribs for an entry fee of $75 for all three or $30 each. There is also a Jackpot Beans category and a Chili category for $15 each.
Trophies will be awarded for first place in the Beans and Chili categories with ribbons for second and third and cash prizes to the first place winners of each meat categories and ribbons to each second and third place.
A silent auction will be held from 9 a.m. until noon with many items donated from area businesses including two $250 gift certificates from Gorman Milling, a weekend stay at LaMancha Lake Ranch, furniture from Great Times Furniture, and more.
Cook Off t-shirts will be available to purchase at the Silent Auction area.
Judging will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday followed by presentation of the awards to the winners.
Proceeds from the Cook Off, dinner, auction and t-shirt sale benefit the Eastland County Fire Departments.
Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the fun as the competition heats up for this cooking event and support their local fire department!
