Betty Hinkson of Strawn

 STRAWN – Betty Hinkson, 89, passed away at her home in Strawn Tuesday morning. Visitation will be at her home Wednesday. Rosary will be at St.John Catholic Church 7 P.M. Wednesday evening. Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday at St. John Catholic Church in Strawn. Interment will be in Mt. Marion Cemetery directed by Edwards Funeral Home Strawn, TX.

Betty was born February 19, 1921 in Ranger to Minnie and Earl McMillian. She attended Catholic School at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Ranger High School, Tarleton University, when it was still a two year college and the University of Texas at Austin. She was a devoted fan and a tea sipper during her adult life. After college she worked as a lab technician at Breckenridge Hospital. Betty married Pat Hinkson June 3 1945 in Ranger. They lived in Strawn and raised three sons. Betty was always active in all of their activities and supported them in life. She was a wonderful homemaker that loved her family and was a member and supporter of St. John Catholic Church the altar society.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Pat and two sons, Rick and Danny.

She is survived by her son, Kirk Hinkson and wife Jan of Strawn, grandchildren, Kirk Michael of Whitney, Laura Jean of Houston and Dereck of Strawn; Granddaughters, Benet and husband Bob Henderson of Denver, CO, Holly and husband Charles Durbin of Ft. Worth.

Family request in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. John Catholic Church, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or your choice. A special thanks to all the women who took care of Betty during the past years, especially the ones she referred to as “her girls” Gracialla, Linda, Shelia, Lupe and Irma.
