C. O. “Carol” Sandlin – Carbon

SandlinC. O. “Carol” Sandlin, age 71, of Carbon, passed away at Harris Methodist Hospital in Ft. Worth on Friday, September 4, 2009. Memorial services are pending. Arrangements are being held under the direction of Summers-Bakker Funeral Home in Eastland.

Carol O’Neil Sandlin was born on February 18, 1938 in Springtown, TX to Dulon Delton and Elizabeth O’Neil (Dunn) Sandlin. He grew up in Carbon, TX and graduated from Carbon High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and his masters and doctorate in Agronomy from Oklahoma State University. He worked in Lubbock for 20 years as a plant geneticist.

C. O. was a lifetime member of the Carbon First Baptist Church. He loved God and his church. He was a loving brother and uncle. His family and friends will always remember him as a good Christian man.

He is survived by his brothers, Jim Sandlin and his wife Mae and Bill Sandlin and his wife Brenda both of Carbon; his sister Kathrin Coburn and her husband Freddie of San Angelo; his nephews, Larry, Chad, Clay and Cole; his nieces, Cari, Sheryl, Melissa and Heather; and his great-nephews and great-nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in C. O.’s name may be sent to the non-profit his niece co-founded, Still Waters, PO Box 843, Crandall, TX 75114.
