The Cisco Writers Club invites you to join us Tuesday, September 7, at the American State Bank Community Room, 418 Conrad Hilton Avenue in Cisco. It will be a special evening of celebration as we award over $300 in cash prizes in our 34th Annual Summer Writing Contest. Be sure to bring your family and friends.
Festivities begin at 7 p.m.
This year’s judges include Larry Lawrence, former newspaper editor and book reviewer of Sweetwater, ranking Books; Lee Lewis, Cisco minister, judging Inspirational; Wesley Valek, retired Cisco College prof, assessing Short Stories; Patrick Ready, of the Eastland County Newspapers, judging Short Shots; and writer and editor Shirley Strawn of Abilene reviewing Articles.
Maybelle Trout, past stringer for Abilene Reporter-News, reviews Humorous Poetry; Judy Callarman, retired Cisco College English professor, critiques Rhymed Poetry. Angie Cook, Cisco College–Abilene English Department, judges Unrhymed Poetry. Julie Elrod of Gordon, publisher of Microplexnews.com, handles Columns; Jerry Eckhart of Cisco, writer of hundreds of published items, judges Nostalgia; and Evelyn Valek, past stringer for Abilene Reporter-News, ranks Children’s Stories.
