EASTLAND – Coy Aaron Nichols, age 79, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at his current residence in Eastland. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Eastland City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6PM-8PM Wednesday at the Summers-Bakker Funeral Home.
Coy was born on December 8, 1930 in Winters, Texas to Floyd and Bessie Nichols. He served in the Navy during 1949-1950 on the destroyer USS Myles C. Fox. Coy was married to Elsie Ann Nichols for 30 years. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2005. Coy was an expert pipe fabricator and piping designer at Dow Chemicals, Oyster Creek, Freeport, TX plant and retired after 30 years of service. He also built dams such as Procter, Sam Rayburn and Amistad dams and was also a professional plumber. Coy was an active Mason at the Masonic Lodge in Strawn, TX and loved to fish during his off time.
Coy was preceded in death by his parents; sister Evelyn Barton and brother Virgil Nichols.
He is survived by his three sons, Jesse “Ray” Nichols and his wife Angela of Centerville, James Nichols of Cleburne and Jordan Nichols; his daughter, Jeanna Nichols of Cleburne; his sister, Florence Pevehouse of Eastland; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
