Darwin was born and raised in Cisco, TX. He rode the bus to the Scranton school before the consolidation and transferred to Cisco High School where he graduated in 1969. He joined the National Guard in 1970 and served for 6 years before finishing in the spring of 1976. He worked in the peanut industry during the early 80’s and then moved on to cattle ranching. He started with small farm projects and eventually started raising cattle with his brothers. Darwin also worked on various drilling rigs and went to work for Santo operating, where he dedicated 25 years. He loved the agricultural and farm life and took honor in providing for his family. He enjoyed working on many committees for the First Baptist Church of Cisco. Darwin had many friends that he loved to pester and tease with the intention of how he showed that he cared for them. Darwin was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that will be greatly missed.
Darwin is preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Mildred Pharr and grandson Benjamin Pharr. He is survived by his two children Camille Hinds, husband Matt, and Caleb Pharr, wife Beth and mother of his children Dianne Pharr. His wife, Rena Pharr, and her two children Colby Midkiff and Kylie Fink, husband Rusty. Grandchildren, Haden Pharr and Kayla Fink. Also brothers and sisters, Linda Moss and husband Johnny, Judy Dudley and husband Robert, Butch Pharr and wife Sidney, Jeanene Montgomery and husband Daryl, and Buster Pharr and wife Carol; many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will 1:00 PM Saturday September 19, 2009 at First Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Craig Curry, burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will be Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church playground fund.
