Downtown traffic to be rerouted

“The City of Eastland has been selected as one of five Big Country cities to be highlighted on KTAB-TV” said Cecil Funderburgh, Eastland’s Chief of Police. “On Tuesday, July 20th, KTAB will broadcast all three evening newscasts from the square in Eastland”, he added.

The public is invited to attend and participate in activities sponsored by KTAB and local merchants. The festival-type event, designed to showcase Eastland, will temporarily disrupt traffic on the south and southwest sides of the courthouse square to allow vendor booths, jump-houses for kids, and television equipment to be setup between the hours of noon and 11:00 PM.

There will also be parking restrictions on the southeast corner of the courthouse, to allow room for the arrival of a VIP bus carrying on-air personalities and support personnel. “Parking on the south side of the courthouse will be restricted all day ”, said Funderburgh. “As always, everyone should drive with care in this area, and be aware that traffic will be diverted away from the 100 and 200 blocks of West Commerce Streets.

Anyone having questions about the temporary rerouting of traffic can call the Eastland Police Department at 629-1700”, he added.
