Earl W. Harris, 88, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010 in Eastland. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Merriman Cemetery in Ranger. Visitation will be from 11a.m. to 1p.m. Tuesday, March 23 at Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Harris was born November 27, 1921 in Mena, AK to Abijah and Gertrude (Askew) Harris. He was a member of the U.S. Army and fought in WWII. While in the service he married Orvilee (Plunkett) Harris on February 11, 1944 in DeQueens, AK. They moved to Odessa in 1947, while living there he worked at Halliburton, Sid Richardson for 21 years and Ref-Chem for 11 years before retiring to Olden.
Mr. Harris loved to fish, hunt, garden and most of all he was a people person. He was a loving and caring man. Mr. Harris was also a member of the VFW in Odessa.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Orvilee Harris, daughter, Linda Kay Harris, two brothers, Edward and Ernest Harris and one sister, Ruby Lee Stout.
He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Long and husband Jeff of Olden and Gail Overton of Olden, one granddaughter, Christi Lee Williams of Denton, TX.
