Eastland Chamber Quarterly Mixer Highlighted Eastland Memorial Hospital

Eastland Chamber of Commerce President/Eastland Memorial Hospital (EMH) HR Director, Leisha Elrod introduced Eastland Memorial Hospital’s CEO, Ted Matthews during the chamber’s Quarterly Mixer held on September 26th.  EMH hosted the event held at the Connellee Hotel.

The hospital is raising funds for a new 64 slice CT scanner and Matthews was happy to report that they have raised over $425,000 of their $568,315 goal.  The hospital’s current 16 slice CT Scanner is eleven years old.   Those wishing to donate to the fund can contact Eastland Memorial Hospital.

Susan Greenwood, EMH chief nursing officer, announced the news that EMH will now have a nephrology (treating the kidneys) clinic.  The nephrologists held one clinic and will start coming to Eastland either every other week or once a month, but she said they are willing to come once a week.  They are tied in with PPG out of Ft. Worth which, Matthews stated, is the 2nd largest renal transplant firm.  Greenwood also announced that Dr. David Lindley, who currently has clinics in Mineral Wells and Azle, now has a clinic in Eastland and is planning to extend his hours to all day on Tuesdays.  Dr. Lindley is a non-narcotic pain treatment physician.

Paula Fisher, radiology manager, talked about the nuclear medicine and interventional radiology services that were started in Eastland about a year ago.  Nuclear medicine is used to determine non-functioning gall bladders and to do stress tests for heart patients.  Interventional radiology offers minimally invasive, targeted treatments performed using imaging guidance which rely heavily on the CT scanner.

Matthews said that Eastland Memorial Hospital received a 5-Star patient satisfaction rating; a rating which they share with only 4% of hospitals nationwide.  He gave credit for this to the EMH employees.

The event was catered by the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) of Eastland High School.
