Earnest Adair Elam, 71 of Cross Plains, Texas, passed away Friday January 5, 2010 at Hendrick Medical Center. Graveside services will be 11 AM Monday at Scranton Cemetery, officiated by Reverend Clayton Pennington with services directed by Kimbrough Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00-6:00 PM.
Adair was born in Scranton, Texas on May 8, 1938 to Jasper Herbert and Bonnie Lee (Nelms) Elam. He was a life long farmer and rancher. He married Janie Ree Cumba on September 12, 1958 in Sabanna, Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Halfway, Texas.
He is survived by his wife Janie of Cross Plains; son, Brian Elam and wife Carrie of Bella Vista, Arkansas; daughters, Sharla Sanders and husband Rondall of Abilene, Texas and Darla Williams and husband Perry of Coppell, Texas; sister, Virginia Gilliam and husband Larry of Scottsdale, Arizona; brothers, James Elam and wife Joyce of Abilene, Texas and Charles Elam and wife Kathy of Memphis, Tennessee; 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Billy Ben Elam.
