Had A Ball With The Salsa Barons

Julia, Jennifer, James

Saturday, February 27, the Salsa Barons’ Ball was held at the Sheriff Posse Building in Mineral Wells.  This is Palo Pinto Challenge’s largest annual fund raiser.  What a wonderful evening it was. The room was festively decorated with serapes, sombreros and draped with tiny colored lights. Information about sponsors and donors was printed on the bright yellow placemats. Palo Pinto Challenge products, Hale Center Salsa, Jal-O Dollies and Jalapeño Cruzers, were on every table as a side for the delicious buffet meal of fajitas provided by Pulidos.

the drawings.  Raffle tickets could be purchased and dropped in a jar next to the prize you were interested in winning.  This lucky reporter won a much needed ‘date night’ of dinner at Chili’s and two tickets to the Cinema III.  Poncho, one of the beneficiaries of the Palo Pinto Challenge program, was turning 28 and the band accompanied the audience in a rousing rendition of  “Happy Birthday”.

The atmosphere of the event was one of a community who had come together for a common cause…. to help one of their own. The sheer attendance of this event showed that they really cared about a worthy organization working to raise some of the funds needed to maintain and improve their facilities. Many of those in attendance were some of the individuals and businesses who have helped Palo Pinto Challenge throughout the year.
