Helen Elizabeth (Betty) Haight of Cisco

Helen Elizabeth (Betty) Haight, 92 of Cisco passed away at her home on Friday, April 30, 2010.

Funeral services were 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2010, at First Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Benny Hagan.  Burial with Military Honors were in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home.

Betty was born in Buffalo, New York, on February 22, 1918, to Clarence A. and Mabel (Monroe) Haight.  She attended all grades of school through high school, and then attended and graduated from Clarkson Hospital Nursing School in Omaha, Nebraska.   As a Registered Nurse, she served in the US Army Nurse Corp. during World War II in England and the Korean Conflict serving in Tokyo General Hospital in Japan and reached the rank of Captain.  She worked at the Navy Hospital in Corpus Christi for 30 years until she retired from Civil Service.  After her retirement, she worked at the EL Graham Memorial Hospital in Cisco.  During her retirement years she also taught clinical nursing students for the Southern Baptist Convention in the Gaza Strip.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by a niece Susan Olney and her husband, Dan, of Glendale, Arizona and their children, Ronnie, Debbie, Kathy, and Greg.  Also surviving is her very close friend, Fay Stephenson of Cisco and Fay’s sons, Charles Stephenson and wife Retna of Cisco and Jack Stephenson and wife Vickie of Enroe; also, Fay’s grandson’s, Charles Stephenson of Washington, DC and Tod Stephenson of Burleson.
