Horny Toad Hogs On Wheels Coming To RipFest

After attending the Eastland All School Reunion this summer, two exes from the Class of 1977 went home with a mission. That mission, to return with their friends to their hometown for the other ‘Big One’ – RipFest 2010.

The exes, Jimmy and Cynthia Pinkerton Sharp, are members of a Harley Davidson motorcycle club with a name that only two former Eastlanders could ever be a part of. The Horny Toad Hogs.

The Horny Toad HOG Chapter, Temple,Texas (formerly known as Temple Texas Chapter) was formed in 1998 by 12 diverse individuals and the local Harley Davidson motorcycle dealership as sponsor. Purpose, is to instill camaraderie among Harley motorcycle riders in the Central Texas area by promoting safety and stewardship for the community and maintaining a family oriented Harley Owners Group.

In 2008 the sponsoring Harley Davidson motorcycle dealership was sold and purchased by new owners George and Julie Lee. It was then the new owners renamed the motorcycle dealership to Horny Toad Harley Davidson. The 150+ members, with just as diversified backgrounds as the original 12 took a vote and the local Chapter name was changed to Horny Toad Chapter Temple Texas. Currently, the membership exceeds 175, both male and female.
Horny Toad HOG Chapter supports Camp DreamCatcher as their sole charity. Camp DreamCatcher is a week long summer camp for children between the ages of 4 and 17 with challenging needs caused by cancer, leukemia and different blood disorders. The Horny Toad HOG Chapter works year round raising funds to meet the wants, needs and wish lists of Camp DreamCatcher and these very special children. There is never a charge to the families for the children attending the Camp. The Camp is located in Burton, Texas, near Lake Somerville.

With a name like Horny Toad it just seemed right that they come and be a part of “RIPFEST” and discover the history behind the famous toad known as “Old Rip” and the nostalgia the town of Eastland has to offer.

Be sure to watch for the Horny Toad Hogs as they ride in the RipFest parade on Saturday, October 2, 2010.
