James Isaac “Jim Bob” Campbell
James Isaac (Jim Bob) Campbell, 95 years old, was born in the Robertson Community, north of Weatherford in Parker County to Creed Fulton Campbell and Minnie (Walker) Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Sydney, Dock and Truett; and three sisters, Esther, Bessie and Emma.He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Patsy W. “Connie” Campbell; a daughter, Jimmie Pearl Cornelson and her husband Darrell of Weatherford; loving stepchildren, Marilyn K Bryant and husband Grady of Euless, Nancy E Doyle and husband T.J. of Mansfield and Don Abercrombie and wife Sherry of Fort Worth; nine grandchildren, Erik, Kurt, Kerri, Sarah, Eric, Matthew, Nicholas, Kim and Julie; seven great-grandchildren: Slade, Caleb, Emily, Lauren, Alex (Eliana due in September), Dennis and Ethan; sisters, Hazel Hughett of Weatherford and Vestal Nicholson of Duncan, Okla.; and numerous friends, nieces and nephews. Special friends include Joe and Barbara Wesley of Ranger and Michael and Jodie McMillen of Weatherford.Mr. Campbell was raised in Phoenix Lodge 275 in Weatherford, Texas in November 1941. He was Past Master of Olive Branch Lodge 792 in Brock, Texas. He actively served in the Masonic Lodge for 68 years. During World War II, he served the U.S. Navy as a fireman and was stationed on the USS Consolation. In addition to serving his country, he also served as a policeman, a butcher and most recently, a barber, having shops in Fort Worth and then Weatherford. It was during those careers that he developed relationships resulting in lifelong friendships. During his younger years, he volunteered his time giving haircuts to the young men residing at the Masonic Boy’s Home in Fort Worth. His kind, gentle and respectful manner mentored many young men who had not been subjected to role models of Mr. Campbell’s caliber. He will be sorely missed by many family members and friends.Services to be held at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, followed by graveside services at 3 p.m. New Gordon Cemetery, Gordon, Texas.
