James (aka Jim, Jimi) Michael Jackson: July 17, 2009.
After a courageous 4 yr battle with brain cancer, Jim transitioned peacefully from his life on earth to his eternal home on July 17, 2009. Jim was born in Long Beach, Calif., on Sept. 10, 1971 to Mike & Judy Jackson. When he was 7, his family moved to Bellvue, Colo.
Jimi was humorous, vivacious, creative, played drums & sang in several bands. He loved laughing, mountain biking & back packing with his friends. He treasured his time at the family cabin near Yellowstone.
He always had an appreciation for life & clear vision of what he wanted to do-play music. He moved to Los Angeles & by the summer of 1997, his band, The Boondock Saints, was being courted by several major record labels & signed with Lava Atlantic Records. In Oct. 2001, Jimi married Jodi Gregory in Malibu, Calif. His band split up & the couple moved to Austin, Texas in 2002 where he joined the band SunMachine.
In Mar. 2005, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After treatments, he was in remission until Oct 2008 when he received the unsettling news that his cancer had returned. In May 2009, Jodi & Jimi returned to Bellvue, Colo., to be with Jimi’s parents while undergoing treatments.
Jimi was always quite the entertainer with his crazy dance moves, unpredictable sense of humor, his compassion for others & fun-loving spirit. Despite circumstances, he remained optimistic & steadfast in his faith.
Jimi was the devoted hus band of Jodi Gregory Jackson. He will forever be remembered by his loving sister Joy Jackson & treasured nephew Marcus Jackson of Fort Collins. He’s also survived by his uncle John Bridge, caring in-laws Diana & Grady Gregory, Angela & Ron Sharbino, cherished nieces & nephew Saxon, Brighton & Sawyer, along with countless friends & family whom were blessed to know him.
The family would like to thank everyone for their constant love, support & prayers. A special thank you to Mountain Valley Healthcare therapists & Hospice.
A celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009, at the Vineyard Church, 1201 Riverside Ave, Fort Collins, CO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to “Jimi Jackson Medical Fund,” PO Box 222, Bellvue, CO 80512.
