James Michael, age 56 of Cisco, died, Friday, October 8, 2010, at Hendrick Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 14th, at Morehart Mortuary Chapel of Breckenridge, with Rev. Leo Brooks and Rev. Stephen Forrester officiating. Interment will follow in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, October 13th, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Morehart Mortuary.
James William Michael was born on November 28, 1953 in Seymour, Texas to parents, Ervin Lee Michael and Opal Faye Lancaster Michael. He grew up in Grham and Gorman and graduated from Gorman High School in 1973. James married Edna Diane Roney on February 22, 1979 in Breckenridge. They later moved to Gorman where James was an officer with the Gorman Police Department. In 1994, the Michael family moved to Cisco. James retired from Cisco Junior College after sixteen years of service as a campus security guard. He loved spending time with his two granddaughters and he enjoyed fishing and Western movies. James was preceded in death by his father and one nephew, Jimmy Blackman.
James is survived by his wife, Diane of Cisco; mother, Faye Michael of Breckenridge; three daughters, Lorena Michael, Angela Cheek and husband, Curtis and Jamie Michael, all of Cisco; one brother, Ervin Michael of Breckenridge; two sisters, Betty McDonald and husband, Buddy of Breckenridge and Janet Johnson and husband, Dennis of Olney and two granddaughters, Danielle Cheek and Sadie Cheek, both of Cisco.
