Julia Frances Wheatley Pittman

Julia Frances Wheatley Pittman passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2010.  Born March 26, 1933 in Anson to Julian Glen Wheatley and Willie Rebecca Landers Wheatley, Julia happily spent her youth in the Scranton community.  Julia remained strongly connected to her roots. She retained an enduring fondness for her time in Scranton, where she led a vibrant social life, enjoying many wonderful friendships and social outings.  A terrific athlete, Julia loved playing basketball, and she set a state record in the long jump while at Scranton High School.  Julia and Jesse Douglas Pittman carried on a lifelong love affair.  Married in Cisco on June 29, 1952, Julia and J. D. seemed permanently joined; indeed, it was a rare sight to see one without the other.  They spent most of their lives and raised two daughters in Abilene, where J. D. was a teacher and Julia worked as a loan officer.  Julia and J. D. also spent many happy hours working on the family farm in Scranton.

Julia was a beautiful woman who always looked like she just stepped out of a fashion shoot.  She relished helping others, especially during her banking years.  She deeply loved her family, including the furry, four-footed members who shared her home and brought her much joy.  She will be sorely missed.  Predeceased by her husband J. D., Julia ia survived by daughter Alice Gregory and son-in-law Kyle Gregory and their children, Thomas and Charlie Gregory and great grandson Brackston Gregory and by daughter Pam Tucker and son-in-law Dan Tucker and their children Megan, Miranda, Jessica and Gabriel Tucker.  Graveside services will be held at the Scranton Cemetary at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 26.  Family suggests memorial donatoins to Rescue the Animals at 5933 South 1st Abilene, Texas 79603
