Kenneth Neil Eaves of Eastland

Kenneth Neil Eaves of Eastland passed from this life on Friday, February 26, 2010, at the Eastland Memorial Hospital. He was currently employed by Eastland County as Deputy Sheriff Eastland County Courthouse and as the Bailiff for the 11th Court of Appeals.

Kenneth’s long time service to the people of Texas began when he became a uniformed officer for the Austin Police Department in 1971. During his time there he served in the uniformed patrol division and the undercover division as well as on the SWAT team. Kenneth continued his law enforcement career on the Hays County Sheriff’s Department, the Eastland County Sheriff’s Department and the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department. He also served as Chief of Police for Cisco. In 1982 the joined the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as a Game Warden. He retired from there after serving in Galveston and Sterling Counties for a total of twenty years. Kenneth returned to law enforcement in 2006, accepting his current position at the Eastland County Courthouse.

Kenneth was born in Gorman on September 15, l945 and attended school in Carbon and Abernathy, graduating from Comanche High School in l964. He earned his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Central Texas College. He always loved the outdoors and promoted youth hunts and gun safety wherever he was working.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Maggie Eaves, his daughter Laura Pearson, his son Cary Eaves , his grandsons Jacob Aaron Pearson, Toby Lee Pearson, Sean Kurtis Pearson, and Camden Price. He is also survived by his mother Verda Jean Eaves, his brother Donald Eaves, his sister Dolores Peterson and husband Mark of Houston, his niece Annalisa Peterson and two nephews Marshall and Tony Peterson and multiple aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 2 at Simpson Cemetery near Carbon, Texas. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Monday, March 1, at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland. The family requests donations be made to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center
