King Kong Water Project Update

EASTLAND – For the week of November 1, 2010 crews will continue with work along South Madera as they install services and taps followed by pressure testing and disinfection of the new 6 inch main water line.

Crews will also continue disinfection, testing and service installations along East Plummer Street.

Additional crews will continue performing tie overs along West Valley.

Curb and patch crews will be working at the intersections of East Conner with Seaman and Bassett; South Marsh between Sadosa and Conner; South Halbryan between Conner and Pershing; and East Plummer between Bassett and Seaman.

Phoenix Fabrication crews have completed the erection of the new water tower. Work in that area will not start up again until sometime near the middle of November when the paint crew returns to coat the interior of the tank as well as exterior coat the top section and do final touch up work.

A new King Kong Project will begin in mid November as crews of Whitewater Construction, of Waco, will begin a major sewer line and lift station replacement. This work should begin November 15 and last until September 2011. This project will involve a new major sewer line replacement from Walmart, west to a new lift station that will be installed along the western edge of the Leon River next to the parking lot of Maverick Stadium. More details will be released as the start date gets closer.

AT&T cell phone customers may see disruption of service when in an area to the south, southeast of the new tower. AT&T antenna located on the existing water tower may be blocked by the newly erected tower. These interruptions may be experienced until early 2011 when AT&T equipment is moved to the new tower.

Residents and businesses in any of the King Kong Project areas are reminded to always keep a good supply of drinking and flushing water on hand in the event your service is interrupted.
