Luther Frank Loudamy, Jr. of Ranger

loudamyOur precious father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Luther Frank (Sonny) Loudamy, Jr., passed away from this earth on Friday, January 1, 2010. He will be missed by all who knew him. Services will be held at 2:00P.M., January 4 at the First Baptist Church in Ranger. Burial will follow at Breckenridge Cemetery. There will be no set visitation. Family will receive friends at 405 E. Pershing St., Eastland, TX.

Luther was born on October 26, 1923, in Veribest, Texas to Luther Frank Loudamy and Sophronia Lucia Smith Loudamy. He started working for Safeway Stores in Breckenridge at the age of 20. There he met Sybil Elaine McKinney. They were married on March 9, 1947, in Abilene, Texas. Luther worked for Safeway for 27 years in various locations in West Texas and Arkansas. In 1969, the couple bought Quality Food Mart in Ranger, which they operated until 1983. Luther was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ranger. He enjoyed bowling, and was on many leagues and bowled in many tournaments statewide over the years.

Preceding Luther in death are his wife of 61 years, Sybil, as well as his parents, 2 sisters, Evelyn and Millie, and 3 brothers, Truett, Durwood and Troy Wade.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Barbra Loudamy, Allen; daughter, Sherry Williamson, Eastland; daughter and fiancé, Laurie Loudamy and Robert Justice, Coppell; grandchildren, Dustin Williamson and Deana Williamson, Waco; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bryan and Wilma McKinney, Arlington; and Waldean McKinney, Albuquerque, NM, and many special nieces and nephews; and a close family friend, Mike de los Santos.
