Mary Bob Leveridge of Cisco

Mary Bob Leveridge, 95, of Cisco passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010, in

Abilene.  Services will be Friday at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church. Reverend Linda Mitchell will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home. Visitation will be in the church Fellowship Hall from 12:00 PM until service time.

Mary Bob had been a resident of Wisteria Place Retirement Center in Abilene since 2005.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Leveridge in 1973, a grand-daughter, Melody McCoy, in 1994 and a sister, Louise Snoddy in 2000.

Mary Bob was born October 23, 1915, to Robert and Flora Bradshaw in the Pisgah-Scranton area of Eastland County.  Her parents were among the earliest settlers of the community.  She graduated from Scranton Public Schools and Texas Women’s University where she majored in music and English.  Mary Bob taught in the schools of Gorman, Scranton and Cisco for 32 years-28 of these being in Cisco.  As a teacher, she emphasized the importance and pleasure of reading.

Most of her students still remember their experiences with The Song of Hiawatha. Upon retirement, she worked for several years in the Cisco Public Library and traveled with friends to interesting places.

She was a member of the Eastland County Retired Teachers, the Texas State Retired Teachers, and the First United Methodist Church of Cisco.

Family survivors are: a son, Bob Leveridge and wife, Patricia, of Norman, OK, a daughter, Leannah Darr and husband, Gene, of Levelland, TX, and daughter, Liz McCoy & husband, Johnny, of Clyde, TX; four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
