Mary Elizabeth Hart, age 89, passed away in Ranger, Texas on July 9, 2009. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, July 13, 2009 at Corinth Cemetery under the direction of the Summers-Bakker Funeral Home with Rex Boggs and Jim Hodgin officiating. Open visitation will be held Sunday from 12-8PM.
Mary was born January 24, 1920 in Palestine, Texas to Robert E. Aiken and Viola (Simmons) Aiken. She held an extra special place in their hearts as their only child. She graduated from Abilene High School as Valedictorian in 1936 and graduated from McMurry University. She married J.L. Hart on June 17, 1940 in Abilene. Mary was an English teacher and taught at Eastland Schools. She loved to read and spend time with her family. Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, J.L. Hart, and son, Colonel Robert S. “Bob” Hart.
Mary is survived by her son, Pat Hart and wife Betty of Olden, and daughter, Judy Hodgin and husband Jim of Salado, her grandchildren, Leslie Hodgin-Oleyar, Dana Haas, Timothy Hodgin, James, Emerson, and Harrison Hart, and great grandchildren, Hunter, Ryder, and Lola Haas.
Memorials in Mary’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or charity of your choice.
