Mildred Lavell Garrett Hallmark

San Angelo- Mildred Lavell Garrett Hallmark, age 66 of San Angelo, passed away Sunday August 1, 2010, in a Dallas Hospital due to complications following a liver transplant. A memorial service will be Thursday 9 a.m. at Southland Baptist Church in San Angelo with Jill Fulghum officiating. There will no set visitation. Bob Knox will officiate the graveside service at Bear Springs Cemetery in Carbon, Texas, at 4 p.m., under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Lavell was born to Vern and Dora Garrett on February 1, 1944 in Gorman. She attended school in Carbon. She married Jerry Hallmark on July 17, 1959. Their union of 51 years blessed them with three daughters. She looked forward every year to the state volleyball tournament (with the volleyball gals) and annual Christmas shopping trip with her girls. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and most of all watching her grandkids’ sporting events. She and Jerry loved to travel with her sister and brother-in-law to various places. She was an exceptional cook who took pride in cooking Jerry’s homegrown vegetables and was well known for her pancakes.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her three daughters, Becky Ethington and Debby Braddock of San Angelo, and Amy and husband Shane Shott of Eastland, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with one on the way. One sister, Verna and husband Jimmy Little of Gorman and numerous nieces and nephews along with close friends.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, LeeVi Hallmark, Ashton Braddock, and Taner Shott, son-in-law Shane Shott, nephews Ray Neal Little and James Little, and great-nephew Jarad Fails. Honorary pallbearers will be brothers-in-law Jimmy Little, Jim Hallmark, Bob Hallmark, and Boyd Porter.

Special thanks to Dr. Tiffany Anthony and the nursing staff on the 4th floor. And a very heartfelt thanks to a special niece, Nelda Fails of Arlington, Texas for opening her heart and home to Lavell and her family during her illness.

She was loved by many and will never be forgotten. We love you OL’ GRANNY!
