EASTLAND – Nona Lavelle Harris passed away from this life and entered eternity into the arms of her loving heavenly father on October 8, 2010. She was 88 years old. Services will be held Sunday, October 10, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at Murray Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 9 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Nona was born November 10, 1921 in Stonewall County to John Seaborne and Frances Vaughn. She married C.B. Harris on July 12, 1940. They remained faithfully married and celebrated 70 years of marriage this summer. They were blessed with three children – Laura, John and Wayne. She was a devoted wife; a sweet, kind and loving mother; a fun, creative and caring grandmother and great-grandmother.
Nona had always wanted to be a nurse and after her children graduated, she became an LVN. She loved being a nurse. She was a talented individual who could carve wonders with a pocket knife and crafted delightful recipes for her friends and family to savor.
Nona was a deeply committed Christian who was a great prayer warrior. She prayed for her entire family by name each night. She was a faithful member of First Church of God in Eastland for many years. She taught Sunday school for all age groups and impacted many lives. She wrote her own material for a puppet ministry with children. She and her husband have attended the Merriman Baptist Church for the last few years and have been members of the loving congregation.
Nona is survived by her husband, C.B. Harris, her daughter and husband, Mark and Laura Horn, her son and wife Wayne and Pat Harris, ten grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
