EASTLAND – Ruby Ann (Lewis) Stewart was born in Gorman, TX on September 9, 1947, to Jody Lewis and Ometa (Roberts) Lewis Clark. Ruby grew up on a farm in Desdemona, TX. She married Bennie Joe Stewart in 1963. They made their home in Ranger, TX for several years before moving to Olden, where they lived for the past 38 years. Ruby worked with her husband Joe in their business, Foreign Auto Parts, in Olden. Ruby loved music and served as worship leader and assistant pastor at River of Life Church in Eastland, TX. Ruby loved the Lord, her faith was unwavering, and her joyful spirit was a blessing to everyone who knew her.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Larry Lewis. Ruby is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joe Stewart and three sons: Joe Stewart Jr. and wife Nancy of Eastland and their two children Courtney Stewart of Eastland and Chad Stewart who is attending college in Durham, NC. C Lynn Stewart and wife Debbie of Eastland and their daughters, Laci Hays and husband Gary of Eastland and their son Isaiah; and Jodi Stewart who is attending college in Abilene, TX, Josh Stewart and wife Karla of Grand Prairie and their daughters Hannah and Heather. She is also survived by two brothers, David Lewis and wife Anne of Lampasas, TX and Gene Lewis and wife Alicia of Abilene, TX and on sister, Doris Frith and husband Waymond of Midland, TX. Ruby is also survived by her nephew, David James whom she loved as a son.
The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland on Saturday from 5 until 7 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the River of Life Church in Eastland. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, directed by Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland.
