Sammy James Davis of Anson

Sammy James Davis, 64, of Anson, formerly of Cisco, passed away February 8, 2010, in Eastland.  Graveside services officiated by Reverend Doke Johnson will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Gunsight Cemetery under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home in Cisco.

Mr. Davis was born in Cisco on June 15, 1945 to Woodroe Wilson ( Boots) and Mattie Daisy (Burk) Davis. He served in the US Army during Viet Nam and was in the 101 Airborne.   He was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery under combat fire in Vietnam, he also received the Purple Heart for wounds received in battle.  He worked for Southwestern Bell from 1964-2003 as a cable splicer.  He married Kathryn Ann Cameron on November 19, 1990 in Baird.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn Ann Davis of Anson; brother, Jim Davis and wife Sharon of Eastland, Doke Johnson and wife Kathy of Eastland, Montie Morton and wife Laura of Necessity; step-son, Mathew Carroll of Abilene; step-daughter, Dawn Ambrose and husband Jim of McAllen; step grandchildren, Mathew Frank Carroll of Abilene, Paige Marie Carroll of Little Rock, Arkansas, Jordan Ambrose of McAllen, Jared Ambrose of McAllen; special friend Kim Noel of Anson.
