Strawn/Gordon Rivalry Still Alive

This Friday night Strawn will host Gordon in what is billed around these parts as the Super Bowl of six man football.  Although the teams are in different districts this year the competition is at the same level it would be were they battling for district title.  This will be the first time this rivalry doesn’t have an impact on a district title but it still carries the same weight for the coveted bragging rights.

Gordon comes into the game with a 3-1 record.  Last week Gordon was upset by Bryson 22-54 and had two players injured during the game.  Junior running back/line backer Michael Spraggins injured his knee and it is questionable about whether or not he will be able to play Friday night.  Sophomore running back/line backer Pedro Lopez broke an arm and will be out for the season.   But in spite of these injuries, the determination to beat Strawn could propel this team to their goal.

Strawn with only 3 returning varsity players, started the season off with 2 losses.   They improved their record to 2-2, squeaking by Irving Universal 62-60 and last week causing the mercy rule to come into play by finishing up Mullin in the first half  60-6.   This team had big shoes to fill this season but they are  developing into a force to be reckoned with.

The Strawn vs. Gordon game will be streamed live here on Drop in and listen at 7:30 p.m. Friday night and join in on the conversation in the chat room during the game.
