The City of Eastland will host a short ceremony honoring the veterans of America’s armed services at noon on Thursday, November 11, at the War Memorial Area of the City Cemetery. If there is high wind or if it is raining during the morning, the ceremony will take place at the Lyric Theatre on the Courthouse Square.
There is often confusion between Veterans Day and Memorial Day since both honor service men and women. Memorial Day is intended to focus on the heroes who have given their lives for our country. The intent behind Veteran’s Day, is to show gratitude to all veterans. While Thursday’s ceremony will pay homage to all veterans, it will also acknowledge those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
“While this ceremony won’t be elaborate, it will be a sincere gesture of gratitude to the many men and women who have served our country, especially those from Eastland County”, said Richard Rossander, himself a veteran who will participate in the ceremony.
If you cannot make it to the ceremony you can listen to it live here.
