Businesses and residents in the King Kong Project areas are reminded to keep a good supply of fresh drinking water as well as a supply of flushing water on hand in the event of a service interruption. Crews attempt to keep the interruptions as minimal as possible, but unexpected issues could result in longer water outages.
The Week of September 13, 2010:
King Kong crews will continue installing a new 8 inch water main along South Green Street between Olive and Commerce.
Additional crews will begin tie-overs to existing mains along West Valley from Daugherty to Dixie. EXPECT SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS OF UP TO 4 HOURS!
Work will continue on West Plummer between Daugherty and Neblett with possible service interruptions of up to one hour in the 500 and 600 blocks, pending results of Bac-T results for service tie ins to the new main already installed. Pressure testing and disinfection of the 12 inch main will also continue.
Bore crews will begin work in the 2200 block of West Plummer and also along South Madera from Plummer to Sadosa. Expect street lane closures in these areas.
*Also note crews will begin installing a new 6 inch main from Plummer to Sadosa on South Madera in 2 weeks. This work will cause for rerouting of some traffic along South Madera during this time.*
Concrete and asphalt crews will be working at Seaman and Conner; North Lamar between Moss and Railroad Ave.; College from Commerce to Railroad Ave.; West Plummer from Bassett to Seaman; Marsh from Conner to Sadosa and along South Halbryan from Conner to Pershing.
Crews will also be working on the assembling of the water tower bowl at the city park.
With the construction of the new water tower underway, the normal traffic route around the City Park will be interrupted throughout the summer.
Citizens and visitors need to be observant of all traffic signs and personnel as well as the movement of heavy equipment and vehicles in the area.
General traffic may not be allowed in the immediate construction area while crews are on site.
One-Way traffic flows to be converted to Two-Way in some areas.
Watch for signs!
Please remember when travelling in these construction areas to be on the alert and watch for crew members as well as heavy equipment, trenches, etc.
