Woman Receives 16 months Confinement for Probation Violations

Presiding Judge Steven Herod of the 91st District Court revoked the probation of KIMBERLY KAY MEREDITH, 27, Monday afternoon after hearing testimony. Meredith, formerly of Eastland, had previously been placed on five years probation on December 10, 2007 for the felony offense of Theft, $1,500 or more but less than $20,000. The Court sentenced Meredith to 16 months in prison, eight months less than the maximum allowed by law under the prior original sentence, for violating the terms and conditions of her probation. Meredith was also revoked in case where she had been convicted of Possession of Marihuana. In reflecting upon her prison sentence, Assistant Criminal District Attorney William C. Dowell stated: “Probationers in this county should take heed, they will be held accountable when they choose to violate their probation.”
