CISCO, Texas – The Cisco College Wranglers racked up another win against New Mexico Military Institute on Saturday, Sept. 11 in Big Spring.
NMMI scored first with a 68-yard rushing touchdown followed by an extra point to put NMMI up 7-0. But the Wranglers answered when Eric Watson punched it in from the 1-yard line, tying the game at 7-7.
NMMI would score next with a 30-yard field goal to end the first quarter 10-7. With only 30 seconds off the clock at the beginning of the second quarter, Watson rushed for a 41-yard touchdown, putting the Wranglers up 14-10. NMMI kicked another field goal, but Cisco’s Kali Rashaad returned a punt 44 yards for a touchdown with only 1:45 left on the game clock, making the halftime score NMMI 13, Cisco 21.
Cisco made the only score in the third quarter on a 15-yard pass play from Jacob Morgan to Tevian Parnell. NMMI rallied in the fourth quarter, scoring two touchdowns, putting the score at 26-28; however, the Wranglers held them off and kick a 28-yard field goal to shore up their lead and win the game 26-31.
The Wranglers will face off against the Northeastern Oklahoma Golden Norsemen on Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. at Chesley Field for their annual homecoming game that will include a tailgate party from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served from noon until 1:30 p.m.
